Some families become more than clients—they become part of your story.
Years ago, I had the honor of photographing this sweet couple's engagement session. Not long after, I stood beside them again as they promised forever on their wedding day. Fast forward to today, and I found myself capturing an entirely new chapter: celebrating their beautiful daughter's first birthday.
Moments like these are one of my favorite parts of being a photographer.
Watching families grow is such a privilege, and there's something incredibly special about documenting each season of life—from the excitement of saying "yes," to the joy of saying "I do," to celebrating tiny hands, first steps, and first birthdays.
A Picture-Perfect Location... You'd Never Guess
One of my favorite things about photography is seeing potential where most people drive right past.
Believe it or not, these images were taken in front of an apartment complex.
Yes... really.
With the right light, beautiful connection, and a little creativity, almost any location can become the perfect backdrop. Golden light, open space, and the love this family shares were all we needed to create images that feel timeless.
It's the perfect reminder that it's never just about the location.
The Sweetest Cake Smash
Of course, no first birthday session is complete without cake!
Like many one-year-olds, she wasn't completely sure how she felt about having frosting all over her hands. We captured lots of curious expressions, sweet smiles, and yes... a few tears, too.
And honestly?
Those little moments are part of the story.
Years from now, I know these parents will laugh as they remember exactly how she reacted during her very first cake smash.
More Than Just Photos
These sessions are about so much more than smiling at the camera.
They're about preserving this fleeting season before little ones grow just a little taller, before tiny fingers become bigger hands, and before first birthdays become favorite childhood memories.
Photographs become the way we remember how life felt.
